| Built with stones in simple forms, the Maison
des Soeurs was built by a solicitor in 1841, below the church,
in the heart of the town of Mieussy. Only the south half was
then occupied. The second half at the time was used as a stable
and a barn.
After having many owners, it was purchased by a Geneva protestant
parish and was transformed between both World Wars into a
holiday camp. In 1967, following an important fire which ravaged
a holiday camp in the region, all establishments of that kind
that did not apply with the rules were shut down.
In 1973, the house was sold to a town inhabitant who, not
knowing what to do with this great building left it in a state
of neglect.
As “Sleeping Beauty”, she slept during 30 years,
waiting for her “Prince Charming”.
Very fond of beautiful stones, we fell in love at first sight
with this old lady in October 1997 and decided to wake her
from her sleep in order to rekindle her charm. Today thanks
to visiting hosts a pleasant atmosphere reigns in this house
which has found a soul.
